The Power of Prayers

Do some prayers have more.....potency or power than other prayers? For example, do prayers of love mean more than a prayer for aid or a prayer of need?

Agree with Dion's take on that (surprising, huh ;)), and just adding one thought. Sometimes the result of a prayer is just a matter of being willing to be that person who is in the right place at the right time. Even if you aren't "very saved", or don't have the faith that moves mountains or don't even have much Bible knowledge ;) - none of those may even matter on some days. All that matters may be that God was wanting to do something and you were willing to reach out to someone who needed it. So, don't be afraid to pray, even if you don't think it will help, 'cause it just might :).

To me, it is always the motivation behind your prayer that seems to make the most difference. Example: Sincerely praying for someone else to be healed just because you care has a lot of weight. Praying for someone else to be healed, so that those around will view you as great, has very little.

It is hard to get praying for yourself right, that is why it is important to pray for others and have others to pray for you. That said, I pray about all of the time and about anything that comes to mind. It is free, and it often works. I was lying in bed the other night, nauseous because I had eaten something too greasy, too late. I silently prayed "Lord please take this nausea away" and it instantly left the moment that I spoke the last word.

Pray often, and about everything. If I pray for 100 people and only 1 of them are healed, that was better than 0. There is nothing in scripture about praying too often, but there are many references about people that did not pray enough.

“Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the Lord.” (Joshua 9:13–14 NKJV)
