Prayers

There has been a ccouple of times that I've been praying, then I would stop short without closing it in the traditional "In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen." then go about what I was doing. Then a few minutes later, I would remember that I forgot to close out the prayer so I would apologize then close it out. I was wondering if this has happened to other people too.

I have another question on prayers. Is prayer an "all or nothing" kind of thing? Prayer is not something I like to do halfway, generally speaking, if my hearts not in it, I don't pray. But I was just wondering if thats how everyone feels. Also how does praying soley from the heart work? I've been trying to do that lately, but I dont know if ive been doing it wrong.

Hi Sylvia, well that is a good point and you are right it is difficult to pray for those who hurt us but it is still the right thing to do. But I was referring to normal situations where you would pray normally and to me, it seems insincere without puttin...  more

Sure, I see what you are saying, Tyler :). It's just in me to look for alternatives, lol. Still, I think even in general situations, it's good to go ahead and pray anyway. Sometimes, it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time, so to ...  more

I know, the power of prayer comes from the Lord, I understand that part all I'm saying is that when I communicate with Him I want to do it honestly and sincerely. And thanks for that story, it just shows us the greatness of the One who hears our prayers.

Sure, I agree with that, but perhaps the "honest" part is that you are stepping up to do your part, even despite not having all the "heart" you might think you should :). Being honest, there are days when I'm feeling tired and not too ...  more

He knows your heart and I feel that He probably laughs when you suddenly remember later :)

Well, if I can make Him laugh, I'd consider it a compliment. Humor, to me, is one of His greatest gifts and I am lucky that He has blessed me with a good sense of humor.

Most likely it has, especially if we are on the go, driving, etc :). I'm sure He understands :)

But by relationship, what do you really mean? How exactly can you establish a relationship with Him? I've never understood that part.

Well, as you study His word, speak to Him, listen to His voice, learn to recognize His voice by stepping out in faith, whenever you say no to things that are displeasing to Him, when you say yes to things that you know would be pleasing to Him. All those ...  more

I know he may have spoken to me before, but as far as I know I've never heard him or recognized that it was him. I'm not even sure that I've made contact with Him at all. But I trust Him and I have faith that I've at least attempted to speak to Him a few ...  more

Tyler, if you are looking for an audible voice, that is actually pretty rare. It is (much) more often the still, small voice, a change in your circumstances, even a word from a friend or stranger. In particular if it is not clear enough for you, He will c...  more
