Old testament

Do you do bible studies on the books of the old testament? I'm presently reading the book of Ezekiel and would like to discuss the book in greater detail and have sort of a group discussion about it and other books of the old testament.  Would that be possible?

If you are completely new to Bible study, then I taught one on the entire book of Luke chapter by chapter and recorded the Bible chapters to audio so that you could listen to them here: http://www.refreshinghope.org/blogs?owner_id=1&category=18

The books of Luke and Acts together seamlessly cover Christianity from the birth of Jesus until Paul preaching in Rome. To me, it is the heart of the Bible.

That sounds great, Pastor Dion, thank you for the link and for preparing the materials! I'm still working my way through the Old Testament and making decent progress, I think. I look forward to checking those materials and learning more. :)

Something that I use a good bit is called the "Tyndale Commentary".  It is a 49 volume set that covers the entire Bible written by a group of scholars. I have it digitally in Accordance, which I use as a Bible study tool. I am about to try Logos for a bit. I love Bible study tools but some of these are highway robbery in sheeps clothing.

Hopefully the Lord can help weed out those kinds of tools for us and show us better tools that fit our perspective budgets :). Mostly the only tools I know how to use are hammers, taping knives, razor knives and screwdrivers. It would be nice to find a de...  more

Hi Tyler :)! Dion has talked about doing the Bible study again on a periodic basis, but I don't know if it will be on Ezekiel. I'm not sure what the status is on that, as he has been pretty busy keeping up with the Sunday messages :). How about if you start a thread at the forum with what your thoughts on it and anyone who would like to can just join in?

Hi Tyler, at the moment I am spending a lot of time in Daniel but I hope to finish that up soon. I will probably have 200 hours of research in the upcoming message wrapping up the "What time is it" series. Ezekiel is a complex book with a lot of...  more

As a pastor you have an understanding of biblical text that common folk like me don't have and you have years of study under your belt. I'm quite sure that you would be a big help to me and to any others who were interested in participating. I understand,...  more

Tyler, don't underestimate the ability of God to teach you through your personal study. Being a pastor doesn't give anyone an exclusive access to divine revelation :). That said, I'm sure we'd be happy to discuss any questions you might have!

Thank you, Sylvia, I appreciate it. You, Pastor Dion, and many others at RHM have been a huge help to me. I am thankful for what you have built here and to the Lord for leading me here.
