Praying in the Holy Spirit

Jude 1:20......But you, beloved building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit........This verse jumped out at me last week and I have been meditating on it. I'm not sure though, exactly what 'praying in the a Holy Spirit' is. Can I just say in my prayers that is what I'm doing or is it something more? Can someone clarify please? Thank you!

Hi Lesa,My mentor a couple years ago had told me that I needed to start praying in the Spirit and I had no idea what she was talking about, so I researced it and prayed to God to help me to start praying in the Spirit and I can tell you nothing has been the same since then. It gives you a release like no other can give you.

In short, praying in the Holy Spirit means praying in other tongues, a gift that usually comes with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When you pray like this, the best way that I could describe it, is like charging your batteries. If you do not know about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, then we have a teaching series on it here:

1: Who is the Holy Spirit?

    2: Ignorance in the Church

3: The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

4: The Gifts of the Spirit

5: The Birthday of the Church
