Filling of the Holy Spirit
Hi!I have a question regarding the Holy Spirit. I often hear people talking about and praying for a filling if the Holy Spirit. This confuses me. I know at Pentecost the Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples and throughout the book of Acts, as people were baptized into the name of Jesus, they too received the Holy Spirit. Throughout the New Testament, Paul continues to reassure us that the Holy Spirit dwells within in us as a deposit of what is to come. So when we put our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit indwells with us. Is this only in part? Is that why people ask God for a "filling" of the Holy Spirit? I know we can grieve the Holy Spirit, as scripture teaches us-or quenching the Holy Spirit with sin in our life. Can you please explain? Thanks for your time and may God richly bless you as you continue in His graceby Sylvia Todd about
