God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day. The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished. On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done. God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done. Genesis 1:31 - 2:3 WEB.After coming home from church, I went straight to work on our new mail server upgrade. All week I had been listening to my audio bible in shuffle mode. So it played random chapters from the bible while I worked.
I kept hearing scriptures about taking a day to rest and not working on the Sabbath day. They were familiar. For the last couple of weeks, when I flipped my Bible open, it would also land on a similar scripture.
Now, you would think I could take a hint, but a man can be really dense. And I managed to brush off what the Holy Spirit was telling me week after week. After all, this was God's work, and He doesn't want me to be lazy.
Today though, the work was like swimming in mud. What should have been a simple job turned into a horrible ordeal. It was graceless, and the computer seemed possessed. At the end of the twelve-hour day, I would have been ahead if I would have just stayed in bed.
For a long time, we would work on Sunday, but then take off Monday or another day to rest. This seemed fine. Yet, when I started working seven days a week, He cracked the whip.
I repented, said I was sorry, and the next day fixed the server in thirty minutes. Since then, I don't work seven days a week anymore. And God has really blessed the other six, so I get more done in a shorter amount of time.
When you feel the Lord speaking to you about something, listen. Don't be hardheaded like me. Can you have it your way? Absolutely. You will be much better off, though, to choose His way.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please bless the work of my hands, and allow me to rest in peace when I lay down. Help me get my work done in six days, so I won't feel I have to work seven. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: For those participating in the Creation Photography weekly themes, here is this week's challenge from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Matthew 19:14 "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'" ~ 'A Child's View' will be our next fun loving theme and is wide open for creative interpretation We also encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. My photos this week reflect some creative ways I choose to express this theme, through my inner child's views both past and present (that would be my love for nature), and through the children I care for. So let the children come, and do not hinder them! Let us show them a world where the Creator's love covers everything and surpasses all obstacles!! Let us show them we can have child-like faith as well Stay safe! Stay blessed! This theme will stay up for the next two weeks, as I will be taking some time for self care (more details in the group). Have a wonderful couple of weeks! Here is the link:

I've lived this lesson, too, Pastor Dion! God truly desires us to rest, step away from the world, and worship Him. There is such blessing in His rest!
