Vantage Point

  • In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:5 WEB

One sees the glass of water half full, the other sees the glass half empty. The glass itself contains the same amount no matter how you look at it. When you are looking through satans eyes at his plan for your life, it is going to be a dark, twisted, distorted view filled with doubt, lack, despair, and fear of what is coming.

When you look through the eyes of Jesus at His plan for your life, you will find it full of hope, love, light, the straight path, the narrow way, and you will face the day knowing that whatever comes, God has got your back. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Phil 4:13). No weapon formed against you will prosper (Isa. 54:17). So we may boldly say: The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Hebrews 13:6).

From which vantage point are you looking at your life from? If you feel burdened down like you are carrying the world on your shoulders, then it is the wrong one and it is not uncommon today. Life is busy and there are often many things pulling from many directions. Dont let it get to you. You were not meant to be everything, to everyone, all the time.

Paul wrote that we should be anxious about nothing, but pray with gratitude and make your requests known to God. Because that is when the peace of God comes. Jesus said in Matt 6:34 to not worry about tomorrow, for it will take care of itself. Paul learned to be content in whatever situation that he found himself in (Phil 4:11).

Dont get anxious and give up today. What is lost can be replaced. Pray and be thankful for what the Lord has already done for you. Remember the times that He has moved in your life. Think positive.

Prayer: Lord I thank you for bringing me this far. Please show me what I can do for You. Give me a clear vision, calm my mind, give me more of Your peace in my life. Give me the grace to change my ways and become more like You, in the name of Jesus.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles All the verses I refer to in my times of distress!! Awesome! I try always to look at that glass half full, but I must admit if I'm not careful I let anxiety  take control of me. I have a slight anxiety disorder... to which I have managed well for years now, only sliding back now and again, in times of great distress. Even still during these times, I cry out to my father for his peace and comfort and he hears my cries! I am always flooded with his calming peace. Sometimes it's instant relief and sometimes I have to lean on my faith for a minute, but ALWAYS I feel his love embrace me when I need it (Which is pretty much every second of every day that I need him) Thank you once again Pastor for being  our fathers hand and feet! I feel very blessed by this ministery and am glad I found RHM.

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin Yes, Perspective and choice is the key....and I heard a little about his promises. We get to choose and we get his promise. God promise is everlasting life with him and the other choice...I don't wanna even consider.....Two path given, Only I can choose my path...God does not force the choice " free will " Thank you Father for leading me always....and touching the hearts of your people.

Patty Martin
Patty Martin Thank you for today's teaching, Pastor Dion.  After my marriage fell apart, I saw my glass half empty (or less) for the longest time.  I struggled to find out who I was, where I was, and what to do next.  I sunk into a deep depression, a place where I had never been before.  I would even get lost driving from one store to another, although I grew up in this area all of my life.  I had support from my family and close friends, but I still felt alone.  I felt the enemy pulling me deeper and deeper, and I was terribly afraid.  Yet, I also began to feel a strong pull from my Savior.  I chose to let my Savior lead me.  I read the Bible, sometimes for five hours at a time.  I signed up for Bible studies and attended my church every week.  I surrounded myself with good Christian people.  It was my first year of teaching and I was terrified but also hopeful.  God's timing is always perfect...He provided me with a job that kept me focused, busy, and surrounded by children who couldn't hug me enough.   I needed those hugs.  Little by little, my glass began to feel half full and then some.  It would have been easy to go the other way at that time in my life, but I put my trust and faith in Jesus.  Once again, Jesus saved me.  Today, I count my blessings, and the greatest is Jesus!

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin Could it be that what you thought was a bad thing was really your blessing? I don't know....but I do know when I thought it was the end of something, it was really the beginning of something great....A closer walk and a deep understanding of God's love. The great thing is we can choose how we see it.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield I wish I had seen (and printed) this devotion yesterday! I had an Endoscopy done, and right before my doctor administered the anesthesia, it struck me--I could DIE on that procedure table And I wasn't wearing my Brown Scapula! (I'm Catholic) Well, I obviously survived, and found I have a huge disgusting ULCER! Hey, I'm not too concerned--I already received a prescription for my belly--plus, in a way, it's a RELIEF to finally know why my belly has been bothering me recently. Thanks for your prayers for me, and I look forward to completing the new Bible study questions later today. Love, Kathy

Twila Stierwalt This is such an important devotion. I love all the positive scripture. I pray, Joshua 1:9,  Have I not commanded you, Twila? Be strong and very confident, do not be afraid or dismayed, for the LORD my God is with me wherever I go. (I will meditate on this today.)

Nell Neathery
Nell Neathery I like those words..."Vantage Point." Now, I know why I like advantages, and Praise God, I have had many, though not being fully aware in the past, and now am aware of many in the recent past and present.  A positive mind, heart,  and soul leads to a positive lifestyle. It doesn't happen overnight and sometimes requires "baby steps." Two helpful phrases are "I can, and I will!"
