Healing in the shadow

Acts 5:15-16: As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.

Psalm 91:1: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

The closer we are to God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the more whole, healed, and prosperous we become. The fact is, that one could not help but be healed just by drawing closer and being in close proximity to the Him.  Jesus walked this earth, and left a wake of healed bodies wherever He went. Most of us remember the woman who suffered from 12 years of bleeding. She just touched His cloak and became well. Jesus touched lepers and their faces transformed to wholeness, and complete healing. When we stop striving to be healed on our own and rest in the shadow of the Almighty, we will be protected, healed, and whole in our lives. The Hebrew word for the Almighty in this scripture is El Shaddai which literally translates to " God is my breast." Most translations call this sustainer, or all-sufficient. The imagery is what is important here. When we rest in the shadow of the sustainer, then we are close enough to Him to be in the shade of His being. When we experience that closeness with Him, the power that comes off of Him makes us healed, whole, and clean. When we look at Acts, people were being healed in the streets just by being in Peter's shadow! Was it Peter's shadow that healed them? No way, it was the closeness with the Holy Spirit that was on and in Peter at the time. The power of the Spirit heals, and makes people whole. Draw close to the Lord if you are struggling with anything. You will be made whole and well.
There is no repenting going on with the people in Acts.  There is no pre-requisite, and  no religious acts that are necessary to be made well. It is the power of the Spirit that is released when we are close enough to be in the shadow of the one who loves us so much. Feel His love poured out on you today. Draw close enough to be in His shadow. Experience the depth of love that will bring new life, wellness, and healing in Jesus' name. Amen.

Father, thank You for Your Spirit that guides us and heals us. Thank You for allowing us so close to you that Your shadow falls upon us. We are protected and abundant in every area of our lives because of Your love.  All glory to You Lord. We want more of You Lord. In Jesus name, amen.
