If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all. Isaiah 7:9 NIV
Ephraim and Aram formed an alliance and prepared to invade Judah, which terrified the people living there. When the people of Judah learned of the coming invasion, 'The hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind' (Isaiah 7:2).
The Lord sent the prophet Isaiah and he told them not to worry for it would not happen. 'Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart' (Isaiah 7:4). God then told them to stand firm in their faith, or they would not stand at all.
The words of this verse in the original language are a rhyme and basically mean 'trust or bust.' God said that it is time for all or nothing. You are in, or you are out. So many times God had proven His faithfulness to them, but it was like that He had to start completely over each time that a new problem arose.
It is important to God, and to our success on this earth, that we believe what He tells us. His promises are no good when we refuse to believe Him. He has come through for us so many times before, but each time when we are faced with a new trial, we often start over again in unbelief just as they did.
There will be times when we are faced with terrible circumstances that make us want to cower, turn back, or stop what the Lord has called us to do. This is when we should examine ourselves and see whether it is the Lord calling us to a different direction, or is it just our fear holding us back. After all, we always imagine the worst possible thing.
If God is not giving us a new direction then we stand on the last word from Him until He gives us a new one. When we have done all, we stand (Ephesians 6:13). We remind ourselves of what God has done for us in the past and build ourselves up. He does not need prove His faithfulness again and again because we believe Him. It is time to trust or bust. Today, stand firm in your faith no matter how dark the horizon appears.
Prayer: Father, I choose to trust You. I know that Your way is best and today I stand on Your word. No weapon formed against me will prosper. I serve Almighty God, what can man do to me? You have brought me this far and are able to take care of me. May Your will be done in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Note: Good morning! A couple of group announcements today. For Creation Photographers, the theme of the week is: FLOWERS! Be sure to keep an eye out there for God''s amazing creation in flowers, and post them at the group (you can still post anything else, as well :))! Also, the FAAD topic of the week is part one of "Witnessing: Life Happens". The teaching is in the discussion tab of the FAAD group, but I believe you would all be blessed by it, whether or not you suffer from anxiety or depression. Have a blessed day!
