Tithing and Charitable Donations

I know what tithing is, but I'm not really sure how it works, but would charitable donations qualify? What are the best charaties to donate to? I don't trust many charaties because you never really know where your money goes. If I donate, I like to be sure that the money I give goes towards helping people in need and not to fundraising or to some rich person's pocket. So picking a charity to donate to is difficult. Should we inquire of the Lord about this and ask Him where our gifts would be best put to use?

    Hi Tyler, all of your giving should start with prayer and giving for a Christian should be intentional and joyful. To tithe means to give the first 10% of your income, not a $5 here and a $10 there, that is called tipping. As to where you should give, that you should ask the Lord about.
