How do animals answer to God?

This is a question that came in our emails, which I thought was interesting :). Here is Dion's answer:

Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man.  Genesis 9:5 NKJV.

He didn't say how, but that they would...

Be blessed,

Dion

Wow! This raises a lot of questions! If they answer to God, does this mean they are judged like we are? Does it mean that there are animals in hell? Do they need to accept Jesus? Mind boggling! how do we witness to animals? I always thought animals have souls, but different than ours. We can make the choice, to accept Christ but animals can't make that choice. Hence, our pets end up in heaven with us. I cannot locate the verse, but I read one that said animals have souls. Very good question!

I thought it was rather interesting, too! I'm sure we don't have all the answers, but I'm fairly certain that if this is the case, animals will be judged by their own standards, rather than ours. How could it be otherwise?
