Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms 46:10 WEB
Another busy day. So much to do, so many bills, the pressure and anxiety kept me up most of the night. It seemed like I spent most of my time these days trying to solve tomorrow's problems before they got here, and don't even get me started on the news. On top of that, I felt tired all the time from stress, worry, and lack of sleep.
With all of this going on, I really did not have time to pray or read my Bible much. I wanted to, it just got squeezed out of the day by one important thing after another, by living a life of emergencies. "What was sown among the thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful."(Matthew 13:22)
When I did slow down and pray for a while, The Lord said, "Why not let me be God for a while?" I guess in my hustle and bustle, I had replaced Him as the center of my life. He was no longer the God of my life: either I was or my problems, depending on what day it was.
Put God first in your life, talk to Him, inquire of Him when making decisions, invite Him to be a part of your day, then the other things will fall into place. Jesus said, "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). When you lose yourself in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)
Let God be God for a while today and stop trying to be Him. He can carry much more than you can. He can handle the pressure. He can see what is coming and prepare you for it. Sometimes we just need to be still and let God be the God of our life.
Prayer: Father please send the Comforter to me today, teach me about You, guide my steps and help me make the right decisions. I want You to be the focus of my life. You are my God. Please give me the grace to make it so, in the name of Jesus I pray.
