Who Ya Gonna Call

Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don't know. Jeremiah 33:3 WEB

When Jesus saw the crowds, He had compassion on them for they were lost and without a Shepherd. He would stop, teach, and heal them. He would touch them and heal their wounds. Jesus said several times in His teachings that He was the good Shepherd, and that He came to seek out and save the lost sheep.

Jesus is always there and just a prayer away from each of us. You can stop right where you are and invite Jesus into your situation. You don't have to face this alone. When you do not know the answer to the problem, He does.

So many times in my life, He has put me in a 'tight spot' with no one else to turn to but Him. I realize now that He was trying to build my faith and teach me to trust Him. When He began to push me into my own computer business, people that I had never heard of suddenly started calling me to come work on their computers.

It began simply enough, but grew more complex with every single call, like I was being trained in class. He enabled me to repair computer networks, when I had never seen one before. He taught me how to repair network databases via a command prompt, before the Internet became a resource, before we had cell phones, and with no one to call for advice anyway.

Time after time, He would push me into situations that were so far above my abilities that they caused me to 'almost' panic, with no one to turn to, and each one increasingly difficult. I prayed constantly under my breath and time after time watched the problem resolve itself. After years of this, I learned thoroughly that your abilities are pretty much irrelevant. Everything hinges on you getting in tune with what He has called you to do.

He anoints the one that He calls, to do the job that He gives them, and sometimes He chooses the least qualified. I grew up on a farm feeding hogs and had only seen computers on television. I quit school and was married by seventeen and worked as a common laborer in construction, but God said 'That's going to be my I.T. guy.'

The key is humbly leaning on Him for advice, for wisdom and knowledge, knowing that we cannot do it without Him. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would teach us 'all' things. 'But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you' (John 14:26). I have learned that 'all' literally means 'all,' everything, all things. In the original text, the word for "all" is 'pas', and means 'all, any, every, the whole, throughly, whatsoever.'

Many view God as an ancient being who is out of tune with modern times, but it is the exact opposite. He knows everything that is coming in the future as well. He shares new inventions with people.

God is 'on the cutting edge' from generation to generation. It is we who are trying to catch up and understand Him, not vice versa. He speaks to me in technical lingo at times that is so deep that I just stand in awe of Him. It is me wearing the dunce hat, not Him.

God invites us to ask Him for help 'But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him' (James 1:5).

If you are wandering through life today and feel a bit lost, look to Jesus, who is just a prayer away as He is already seeking you. He is 'The Good Shepherd' and He cares for His sheep. He will be as involved in your life, as much as you will allow Him to be. You can trust in Him.

Prayer: Father, I pray that You increase my wisdom. Reveal the things that are holding me back to me and give me the grace to deal with them. Help me break out, break through, take me to the next level, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
