Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." The Day The Word Came

  • Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness. He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins. (Luke 3:1 WEB)

It had been a long time coming. Ancient prophecies testified of the one that would come and prepare the way for the Lord Jesus (Isa. 40:3), yet nothing was happening. When John was born, there were great prophecies spoken about his ministry, but there was nothing to see of it, yet.

For twenty years nothing happened, except that John grew older. Then the day came, the Word of God came to John in the wilderness, and that changed everything. John came onto the scene and changed the world around him carrying a powerful word from God. He was the one that baptized Jesus and even recognized Him. The word of God could have came to the high priest, but no, it came to John in the wilderness. It was time.

In my own life, the Lord told me when I was young to prepare for ministry. So I went through school, got ordained, and then waited and waited Twenty years went by and there was never a door open. Then suddenly the day came and I was pushed into ministry like cattle being herded down a loading chute. Every other door and line of work was shut tight, and it became the only path open to me.

Two weeks before, we had been out of work for months, could not find a job, could no longer pay the bills, and were packing to move out of our home. I was in a dark place and I no longer even talked to God because I had given up. That was the day that His word came to me. Sitting alone in my prayer room without saying anything, I suddenly had an open vision from the Lord and two weeks later I was a pastor. Then a friend stepped in and paid all our bills for a month. It took forever and then happened suddenly. Here I am.

God has the day marked on His calendar when your situation will change. There is a date, and the closer that you come to it, the more difficult your life usually is at that moment. A sure sign of a breakthrough is when all hell seems to be breaking loose against you. Stay the course. Keep the faith. Try and keep a positive attitude. You will overcome and His word concerning you will come to pass. One word from God changes everything.

Prayer: Father I thank You for Your goodness. I know that You see me right where I am, and Lord I know that You have not forgotten me. Strengthen me, build my faith, draw my heart to You. Send Your word to me Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Note: For all who did not receive the group message yesterday, the Bible Study for this week is now up! You can find it on the website menu, under "Bible Study". Kealtis "Key" Austin
Kealtis "Key" Austin Father God, I thank you for Pastor Todd and first lady Sylvia this day. Thank You for the message that was put on Pastor Todd's heart to share with us. Family, for the past month to two months I've been facing eviction. I've prayed, cried, begged, tried to borrow and still could not get caught up. But I've managed to not be evicted yet. Lord bless, this will be the last time I have to be concerned about this problem. They are waiting like vultures to evict me even now, but I do have faith in God that has really been strengthened this day. I will be able to boldly walk in that office and say to them, "In the name of Jesus I give you my rent. Amen. Thank you Pastor for being a willing instrument of God's and spreading His Word, as well as His encouragement to His flock. I truly love you and Sylvia, as well as all of my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Jim Jarrell
Jim Jarrell Thanks Dion, I would like to add one thing to this message, just because God has spoken to you about your future, does not mean everyone will automaticly believe you. It seems to me that the only people who know your future is you and God. Do not be surprised when no one believes you, you must keep your faith and go forward.

Dion Todd Jim you are so right, but to be honest I have taught myself to put that so far from my mind that it never occurred to me to write it. To most of those around us, I am still and will always be, the computer tech. You set your face as flint to what God has called you to do and you focus on that. Don't even bother to tell your brothers what God has told you, or you may find like Joseph or David, that it just makes them furious.

Audry Reddy
Audry Reddy I'm not asking God for anything because I really don't know what to ask for. My heart is completely shattered and broken because my husband was un-faithful yet again. I have forgiven him seven times seventy since we've been married for 12 years.Time and time again God has given me the strength to get thru yet another offense from him , but each time it took longer to repair my trust for him. Now, I'm at the point where I no longer believe him or trust him. And I'm not in a position to leave him or ask him to move out because we have a 16 year old daughter who needs both of us. So, it's been a few days of me finding out and I can't even look at his face because of my pain and anger. I've been totally seeking God and rest in His peace and comfort He has been giving me and continue to carry me thru. Please pray for me and him. I really just want to do God's will concerning this situation. Thank-you for listening

Gretchen Simms
Gretchen Simms I have been where you are. It was a long and very painful journey. trust God with all your heart and leave your husband in His hands. Do not believe what your eyes see. Only believe what God says. God totally changed my husband and our marriage was resurrected. Jeremiah 29 says "I know the plans I have for you. . . Plans to give you ope and a future . . . . then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you declares the Lord and will bring you back from captivity". hang on tight dear one. The Lord is faithful

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield I am a bit late responding to this devotional (I'm still catching up with all the messages I missed when I was in the hospital!) But I just needed to tell you how much I appreciated reading these words tonight! My stomach hurts, I have terrible gas and bloating, and I just feel so darn FRUSTRATED! I missed church today because I didn't feel well, and I'm reeling in self-pity now. Your words were the very best medicine any doctor could have prescribed! God bless you, Pastor Todd and Sylvia! love, Kathy
