Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth dea...

By faith Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which ...

Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its se...

Total Eclipse

  • When they began to sing and to praise, Yahweh set ambushers against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were struck. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. When they had finished the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy each other. 2 Chronicles 20:22'23 WEB.

"God sure sounds needy," I thought as the preacher explained that God required us to worship Him. Now I was just a kid, but already something didn't seem right for the Almighty God, The Creator of the universe, the Maker of the stars, to need little ol' me to worship Him. What's up with that? Why does the Almighty God need us to worship Him? Is He insecure in some way?

As I grew older and life happened to me, I learned it's not about God Almighty needing anything from anyone. He's bigger than that. It's about us and our focus in this life. When we begin to magnify God in praise and worship, changes happen in our lives. God becomes real to us, and His presence becomes tangible. You can feel His very presence around you. He becomes bigger, and our problems become smaller.

Praising God brings the atmosphere of heaven to Earth, and it drives demons mad. If you praise Him long enough, He will show up just as He did with Jehoshaphat. When they began to praise God, their enemies turned on each other, and Israel spent the next three days picking up free stuff. A very dark situation worked out better than anyone could have hoped when they began praising God.

We live in a darkening world, yet God will have the final say. So don't let what's on the news shape your view of God's power. We should never limit God to our past experiences, for He can do something new. In the end, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of All (Philippians 2:11).

They say the sun is about 400 times larger than the moon, yet the moon can completely block out the sun during a total eclipse. It becomes all that you can see. Because it's closer to us, the moon can appear bigger than the sun.

Problems work much the same way. When you focus on your concerns, they will grow bigger and bigger. In your mind, God will shrink smaller and smaller. Yet, when you praise God and focus on Him and His word, He will grow bigger, and your problems will become smaller.

So praise the Lord today, and don't focus on circumstances you can't change. They are only distractions. Spend time praising and thanking God for what He has already done in your life and for the things He has blessed you with. Trust Him, and remember what He has already done for you. Your future is in good hands. God loves you and is at least 400 times bigger than your problems.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me see past the problems. I know that You created the heavens and the Earth and that You control what happens in my life. Please let Your peace rest on me today. Send the Comforter to me. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: For those following the Creation Photography weekly challenges, group leader, Dianna Wyles: Genesis 8:22 'As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.' ~ Our next fun-filled theme will be 'Reflections of Summer' and, of course, is open wide to your creative twists so go have some summer adventures and take some pictures or show us some cool reflective shots, or you choose how to interpret our entertaining theme choice this week. Love the Eclipse comparison! Excellent "visual"!

The comment you wrote "Problems work much the same way. When you focus on your concerns, they will grow bigger and bigger. In your mind, God will shrink smaller and smaller. Yet, when you praise God and focus on Him and His word, He will grow bigger, and your problems will become smaller." this is so very true!

It reminds me of the thought that the mind is like a garden, we nurture and feed the flowers and fruit and pull the weeds, weeds grow naturally and prolifically without trying and will choke out the flowers, it takes work to get the flowers to grow... also the old Indian saying about the two wolves (I'm sure you have heard it), the one you feed is the one that survives.

Thank you for these Bible studies.  I do hope you restart them before I get to the end! You are an excellent teacher!
