As it was in the days of Noah, even so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man. They ate, they drank, they married, and they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ship, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Luke 17:26 WEB
As Noah labored on the ark day after day, life went on around him. People were eating, drinking, attending weddings, and carrying on with their lives oblivious to the fact that the end was approaching. Though Noah was a righteous man and preached to them (2 Peter 2:5), they didn't listen.
Then the day came when it was too late. The door of the ark was shut, and the rain started to fall. God sealed the door Himself and when He did, those that were inside, stayed inside, and those that were outside, stayed outside. It was too late to say 'Hey wait on me!'
The day is coming like a thief in the night when the Lord Jesus will return to the earth (1 Thessalonians 5:2-3). Thieves in biblical times were not cat burglars. It was a sudden surprise attack with a dagger and shrieking. I don't know exactly what that day will hold, but Jesus warned us several times to not let it catch us unaware like the foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1).
It is pretty clear to me that not everyone is going to be saved, no matter how hard we try. Each person on earth has to choose for themselves, and the decision cannot be made for them by others. Many are just too caught up in life to be bothered. Many are just working for the weekend.
God loves you and He wants us to enjoy our lives, just be sure to include Him in it and do not forget about Him like they did in the past. He wants a meaningful relationship with you. You will never be caught off guard if you just take some time to pray and listen. Remember, there is more to life than working for the weekend.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I look to You today. Please walk with me, talk with me, and help me to know You better. Speak to me in a way that I understand, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
