Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things. Romans 2:1 WEB
The congregation grew silent as the elder finished his speech on judging others. He told us that each time that he had looked at another's mistakes and said 'I would never do that', that later he found himself doing just that.
He was now in his late seventies, and he said that he thought that he had completed his list. Everything that he had said that he would never ever do, he had ended up doing. Admittedly, he was considerably ahead of those of us who were still working on it.
It took me a long time to learn that what I so hated in others, was often because they were a mirror of what was in me. It amazes me how self righteous we can feel while looking down on someone else. Every time that I have placed myself above someone else's sin, what they had came to visit my own house.
Save yourself loads of embarrassment and laps around the mountain by biting your tongue before you say anything bad about what someone else is doing. Let God correct the sin in peoples lives. If you have to correct someone, do it in the kindest possible way. Help them get up and restore them. Picture yourself in their shoes because you are capable of the same thing.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I pray that You help me see past the mistakes of others. Fill me with Your love and let me restore those that have lost their way. Give me words of wisdom and the right attitude so that I can be a help, and not a hindrance, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
