Behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Yahweh your God spoke concerning you. All have happened to you. Not one thing has failed of it. Joshua 23:14 WEB
Joshua had served God his whole life. He grew up in the presence of the Lord, and as a young man he never departed from the tent of meeting where the Lord's presence settled (Exodus 33:11). When Moses died, Joshua led the Israelites into the promised land. The speech that he gave in Joshua 23:14 happened when he was 110 years old. You could say that Joshua knew what it was like to walk with the Lord.
Joshua had been one of the twelve spies sent to look at the promised land (Numbers 14:6), and later he led the people through countless battles as they entered it. Though at times things looked bad, and sometimes Joshua had to lay on his face (Joshua 7:6), God always came through in the long run.
So many times in my life, it has looked hopeless, when really, hope was right around the corner but I just could not see it. Each time I would get scared because I did not know what to do, but in the end, God would always come through. Sometimes things only make sense when looking backwards.
Do not panic in the short term, for God will work it out. The thing you fear that is coming, is not actually here yet. When and if it arrives, God will give you the grace for it when needed, not in advance. Take heart, God always comes through in the long run. We like to be independent and prepared for anything, but He wants us to learn to trust Him and stand firm in our faith, while in the middle of a storm.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for Your faithfulness. You have brought me this far and I know that You are able to take care of me. I should know this by now. Forgive me for ever doubting You and touch my life again today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Note: Happy Sunday! All are welcome to join us this morning for our weekly RHM Live church service and Bible Study (you do need a site account though, to participate in the chat). This week we will be covering our study of Acts, Chapter Thirteen, starting at 10am EST. We do encourage y'all to show up about 15 minutes early for some fellowship and to test whether the video and audio is working for you before we start. Hope to see y'all there! RHM Live Page
