Moses said to the people, 'Don't be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again. Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.'
Yahweh said to Moses, 'Why do you cry to me? Speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward.' Exodus 14:13 WEB
Moses and the Israelite people stood on the bank of the river with the Egyptian army closing in on them. He had just finished a great faith-filled speech about resisting fear and he told the people that the enemy that you see today, you will never see again. Then in the following verse the Lord asked him: 'Why do you cry to Me? Tell the people to go forward.'
Sometimes we can become paralyzed waiting to know the will of God. Yes we do need to pray and listen, but do we really need seven confirmations before we get started? A car can only be steered while moving. A boat cannot be navigated while sitting at anchor. Often the Lord will speak to us after we start the journey, one step at a time, and if you miss Him, He will always find you because the Shepherd goes after the lost sheep.
'By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went.' (Hebrews 11:8 WEB).
Often in our life, we find that a word from God comes to correct our course much like they do on a cattle drive. As long as the herd is moving in the right direction, little has to be said. The word comes when we start to get off course, come to an intersection, or to bring encouragement during a difficult part of the journey.
Looking back over my life, I have sometimes felt like I was being herded through a loading chute with no door on either side. In fact, I prefer it that way because it keeps my decisions simple. Put Him first in your life, let your journey begin, and let Him correct your course as needed.
As long as we are walking the correct path, it is often pretty quiet. Isaiah 30:21 reads, 'And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk you in it; when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left.' A word of correction comes when you turn from His path. I say that from experience.
Also, you stay with the last word given until a new one comes. Even things that I felt strongly about that seemed to fail, still worked out for our good if for no more than education. So don't become paralyzed by fear and anxiety because you feel that you may miss 'God's Will.' He will catch you if you fall.
If you are having a problem determining His will, then how do you know this is not it? That idea that keeps returning could very well be Him trying to guide you. It is is often easier to follow the voice of God than you think. All that it takes is putting Him first in your life, then He will bring the course corrections as they are needed one day at a time.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I choose to put You first in my life. I submit to Your will. Please guide me today, put me where I need to be. Help me to become the very best version of myself and to shine Your light on this earth, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray
