God said to Noah, "I will bring an end to all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them and the earth. Make a ship of gopher wood. You shall make rooms in the ship, and shall seal it inside and outside with pitch. Genesis 6:13'14 WEB.
Noah had something to do. It was a driving passion that no one else understood. He could see beyond the curve, and it made him misunderstood. To those walking by, Noah must have appeared crazy. It had never rained on the earth before. A mist came up from the ground and watered the plants (Genesis 2:6). Yet, here was a man building a giant ship in his yard. That had to attract some gossip.
Noah was different from everyone else. He had a calling, a destiny to fulfill. God had told him to build an ark, and he was going to do it. Though in the natural, it made absolutely no sense at all. Noah worked on this ark day after day, and years went by with nothing to mention but sore muscles and splinters. Then the final day arrived. The door of the ark was sealed, and the rain began to fall. That is when everything changed. The people around Noah no longer thought he was crazy.
What God had promised Noah wasn't forgotten, wrong, or mistaken, but patiently waiting for the proper time to arrive. The rain waited until Noah was ready. Everyone else turned out to be wrong in Noah's life, but what Noah believed was right. In the end, there were only eight souls were saved on the earth: Noah, his wife, his sons, and their wives. Noah did his part, what God had told him to do. Then God took care of the rest. Noah didn't have to make it rain. He only needed to build the ark. Though it took a lot of hard work and patience to see it through.
When you don't fit in, and people don't understand you, remember that you aren't the first. When they don't allow you into their circle because you are different. It's ok. Sometimes what the Lord calls you to do will appear crazy to those around you, and they won't understand it. Noah's peers didn't help him with his project. So don't let their rejection stop you from doing what God has called you to do. Work on your part each day, and let God take care of the rest. Stay the course. Keep building that boat.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please guide me into all that You have for me. Reveal the gifts that You have placed in my life, and teach me to use them better. Adjust my focus, and straighten my walk. Reveal my mission here in a clear way. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
