Mark 5:25-34- A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed. Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, Who touched my clothes? You see the people crowding against you, his disciples answered, and yet you can ask, Who touched me? But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, " Daughter your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."
There is so much to this testimony where hope and truth is found. What the Lord shares with me, is something that anyone will find true hope in. I have seen this in so many people. If you have an aging parent, a grandparent, a sick child, or it is you that has a pill dispenser with the days of the week on it, you can relate to this woman who has suffered a great deal for over a decade. She has gone from specialist to specialist, doctor to doctor to try and get healing, but every resource she has is spent. She is not only suffering, but she is now broke from spending money on doctors. She has nowhere left to turn, but in faith she knows that if she can just touch Him, if she can just reach out and touch Him that she would no longer suffer. for many people, we all have been shown this truth, and maybe we believe that Jesus can heal us, but how do we get to Him? After all, there are so many people worse than we are, and He is busy, and there are others around Him being healed, and the list goes on and on as to why we cannot go to Him.
I have heard so many times, that, " well, He has better things to do than to worry about my arthritis." "He has world hunger to worry about instead of my failing kidney." " He has starving children in Africa to feed, He doesn’t have time for my anxiety." The truth is, Jesus makes time for you, for your Mother, for your Dad, for your grandparent, and especially for you. He loves you so much that when you seek Him, you cannot help but be healed. Reach out for Him, you are worth it to Him. Despite being surrounded by so many people that the twelve disciples couldn’t locate one woman who touched His cloak, tells you that the enormity of the crowd. Jesus knew though, and He stopped the whole parade right then and there to liberate the woman, and not only free her of her suffering, but to give her peace about touching Him. It is recorded in Matthew, Mark, and Luke about her faith, and what it must have took for her to receive healing. It was not that she took a blessing, but it was the faith that Jesus could and would heal her just by a simple touch.
If you think that you are not worth it, take hope that you are. Not only did He take the time to talk and free the woman from her sickness, but He was on His way to heal a sick child from the house of Jairus. In the time it took for Jesus to get through the crowd and talk with this woman, the young girl had died. Jesus heard the news, and while the disciples had told the representative from the house of Jairus to leave Jesus alone, as if to say, what can He do about it now that the girl is dead? Jesus simply says, do not worry, just believe. You see, we may have put our faith in other things over the years, we may have looked for cures on our own, but through a simple act of touching Jesus, knowing that He is willing and able to heal, the woman was healed, and the young girl was brought back to life. Take hope in the truth of Jesus and reach for Him, ask Him to liberate you from anything that you suffer from in secret. Do not fear, but fall to His feet and trust that He will not put you to shame, but to life, and wholeness. He loves you, yes even you! You are worth Him stopping and taking note of your faith. Trust that He is willing and able to heal even you. In Jesus name.
