Take it off your shoulders

  • Matthew 11:28-30: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Jesus wants us to find rest in Him. One of the biggest ways to be outside of that rest is to be stressed. When we are stressed about something, we can feel out of control or fearful. When we take on the responsibility of something we cannot possibly carry, then we will find ourselves outside of peace and rest. Before we had tractors, Oxen were used to plow fields for crops. The farmer would hook up yokes around their necks, and use a harness to control the animals to till up the ground for planting. When we allow the enemy to control our direction, we are being used as an Ox would for the enemy. Can you imagine working for the enemy, being whipped and carrying the load for him? No, we would never willingly do that. The enemy is sneaky and will use lies to try and put the yoke around your neck. He will use whispers in your ear to ask you questions such as, "Are you going to let that person take advantage of you?", or " I cant believe you spent that much money for that, your spouse is going to be upset with you." If you allow those lies to sink in, then each time you do, you take another step into that harness. Pretty soon, without even realizing it, he is steering you all over the place. You get tense in your neck, get angry over nothing, and maybe hide something out of fear. The end game of the enemy is to affect your relationships in the world, and especially with Jesus. He wants you to feel unworthy of the love of God. When we try and carry something in the physical that is too heavy for us, it will weigh us down. Before too long we will collapse under the pressure.
Don't fall for that lie. Find yourself yoked with Jesus and Him alone. He tells us that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Let Jesus deal with the enemy, after all, the enemy is a defeated foe. Jesus already won. Stand in victory and take up rest in Jesus. See yourself in the loving arms of Jesus, who always accepts you one hundred percent of the time. There is nothing to fear, Jesus is in control of all things in our lives. We don't have to worry about people taking advantage of us. Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work together for our good. Imagine that if things take too long to come to pass, it is because Jesus is going to make things even better than we expected. Have the truth on your side, unyoke from the enemy, and take on the peace of Jesus Christ in all things.

Deleted Member Thank you so much for this today, if this was mean't for no one else, it was definetely mean't for me, because I have been having some worries and fears lately, over the surgery I recently had on my right foot due to RA, my Mom has been sick and my Dad is not doing well. He has COPD and emphyzema real bad and it is causing him to have chronic bronchitis, he keeps on going, but I have seen his health failing lately, he is only 72 years old and like I said he keeps on going, he doesn't stop and I think that probably is one reason why he has gone down faster and of course Jesus has touched him, he needs to desperately to give up smoking, he came up during the time here in SC, working on a tobacco farm was one of the main jobs you could find as a young person, his Dad died when he was only 9 years old and he had the best Moma in the world to him, she was an awesome Grandmother and she lived to be 93, my Dad really needs prayer over this smoking addiction. He has tried to quit, but he goes back to it and I have really been so worried about him and my Mom's health is not good, never has it really been good my whole life, but lately she is having so much back pain, she barely can walk, and I have a few other family members that are facing some terrible sicknesses. I lost my other Grandmother this year, she was 90 and we were very close, she was like a second Mom to me. I am just feeling overwhelmed with fears, anxieties and worries right now, I could handle it okay if it was just me being sick, I'm an only child and I have no siblings to help me with my parents and for the last 4 weeks I have pretty much be disabled due to the surgery and I still have a few more weeks to go and then in a few months they will do my left foot due to RA and I will be on bedrest again for awhile. I'm sorry I am talking so long, but this blog just hit me right in the heart today, exactly how I am feeling. I know that all will work out in the end, but right now it feels overwhelming to my heart and soul, I can't sleep at night, If I do sleep any, I usually wake up with the same worries on my mind and this I toss and turn throughout the night, with so much on my mind. I have been serving Jesus since I was 12 and I am now 54, and I have seen all the wonderful things that Jesus has done and I have seen all the miracles He has done for me and my family, but the holidays always get me down, because it seems like fear really hits me hard during this time, I think that subconsciously I feel like something bad is going to happen during the holidays and I am always have this inner fear of that. I thank you so much for writing this blog and sharing it with us at RHM. I just want to feel the fears, worries and anxieties to be lifted from my heart and be place with joy unspeakable, peace, happiness and laughter, because its like you said if we give in a little to satan then sooner than later we are going to be like the ox, being led around and believing the things that satan is telling us, like something is going to happen to your Mom or Dad or your foot is never going to be healed so you can walk on it again and so many other things that are running through my head. Sometimes I wish I had a key and I could turn my brain off for a little while to rest. LOL God bless you and please keep on writing for Jesus, I so needed this today, to know all I truly have to do is give it all to Jesus, put all my faith and trust in Him and not listen to satans lies anymore. God bless you.
