How to Start a Group

Posted by Sylvia Todd April 3rd, 2015 4,444 Views 0 Comments

This article is for members who would like to start their own small group as part of this ministry. We would love to hear from any who are called to take this kind of leadership position here. Please review the guidelines below and use the link at the end to contact us!

1. Starting a Group: First, please go over the guidelines in this list. If you believe your group fits here and the Lord is calling you to be a leader, contact us and we will help you get started!

2. Who May Start a Group: Any member may start a group, but it requires approval before it is created so that we can be sure it fits the guidelines.

3. Subject Matter: You may create a group around anything that you find interesting that you think others will also enjoy, though it does need to be “family-friendly". Of course, Christian subjects, such as prayer, Bible study, etc. are always welcome. Other areas such as family, activities, hobbies, book clubs, and the like would also be welcome. We are Christians going through life together and life has many aspects.

4. Leading a Group: Being a group leader is a commitment. While we will do our best to support and help, we expect the group leader to take responsibility for keeping the group active by posting at least weekly, communicating with the members, making sure there aren’t problems in the group, etc. You do not necessarily have to do it all on your own. Feel free to recruit assistants in your group to help out! If we see a group that is inactive for a while, we will eventually remove it from the list.

5. Events: We encourage and are happy to support any events or other special activities you would like to run from your group. Let us know and we will help you promote it.

6. Conflicts: As with any collection of people, there may be conflicts from time to time. Please contact us if there are any such problems and we will work with you to resolve it. We do not want to see any of you having to stand on your own.

7. Ending a Group: If there comes a time when you feel the season is completed for your group. please let us know and we will help with closing it.

If these guidelines are something that you can agree with, please feel free to contact us. Let us know that you have agreed to the guidelines and provide the title and a brief description of your group idea. We look forward to hearing from you!
