Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?" Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you have mocked me, I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would have killed you." The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not yo...

God Will Confirm His Words to You

  • God will Confirm His Words to You from Jim Jarrell on Vimeo.

In my last three videos, I have spent a lot of time talking about the things that God has done in my life. Tonight, I would like to talk about why I think all this was happening from my own perspective. Remember in the first video I did in that series, I said the man who called me on the phone said; “God wants you to come to our church, He has a purpose for you.” I can not speak for anyone except myself, but when someone calls you on the phone and tells you exactly what you are thinking, I tend to listen to what they are saying. After my first experience at the church, I really began to pay close attention.

As time went on, I kept having different people tell me how God was going to use me to speak with others about the kingdom of God. Anyone who is familiar with my former life can certainly understand how I might question all of this. Speaker after speaker would tell me the same thing, I would go out and speak to others. I kept wondering to myself, how can this be possible? In my second year at the church after hearing this from so many people, I enrolled in Bible Collage. The same Bible Collage that pastor Dion attended. The strange thing is, no matter what was going on, everything that could go wrong, was doing so. I went to the pastor and talked with him about all that was going wrong. He indicated that the enemy was just coming against me and that I should continue. So, that is just what I did.

This pastor taught a lot of different things in his messages, but he was convinced that the kingdom of God was his most important message. It seemed like every few messages would be on that subject some how. When I went to him to ask him why, he explained to me that so many had been taught wrong over the years. This is the message that Jesus came to speak of. He said in Mark 1:14&15, the Bible says; “Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying; The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel.” He told me that so many believe that repentance is the gospel and that everyone should be saved. He said that while this was true, salvation is just the first step in an a long road. If we want to see the other promises that God has made happen, we need this kingdom message. He said, do not worry, you will understand.

I tried to tell him that I had some experience with this teaching already, but he just kind of ignored that. When I asked him why he taught so many messages on that same subject, he would just laugh and say the people need to know how important this is. As time went on, I saw God heal so many, but they would seemed to return with the same illness or worse so often. When I would ask him why this was happening, he would explain that as the Holy Spirit was trying to get them to change, they did not do so for a multitude of reasons. He explained what Jesus said in John 14:25-27 which says; “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to remembrance all things I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” He went on to explain that as the Holy Spirit would convict a person of sin, He expected them to confess it and allow God to help them change the behavior.

Early in the Spring, the next semester at the Bible Collage started. One of the teachers gave us the assignment of reading and giving a written report on the book of Galatians. As I was reading the first chapter, I read Galatians 1:11&12 which says; “But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” As I read this, that voice I had become so familiar with spoke again. He said; “This is what I want from you.” I certainly had to ask, what do you mean? God spoke again and said; “I do not want you in school, I want to teach you Myself.”

Now, I was totally confused. The pastor had been telling me that the enemy was trying to keep me from school, and now this was happening. I had learned enough to ask the Spirit if Jesus had come in the flesh. He answered with; “Of coarse Jesus came in the flesh!” I called the pastor on the phone and told him what had just happened. He asked me if I was sure, and I told him again. When I tell you he was not happy, I am probably stating it mildly. I just prayed and asked God, if He had truly spoke this to me, I would like Him to confirm it somehow.

Not long after this happened, I was pitching on a recreational league softball team. I guess that after I got healed the first day at the church, even though I was 55 years old, I did not feel it. Anyway, towards the end of the game that evening, a young man came to the plate to bat. I threw him a pitch and he hit the ball right back at me a whole lot harder than I threw it to him. That ball hit me on the front of my leg and I went down like a rock. As I lay there stunned, I heard that voice again. God said; “Get up and finish, I am going to heal you.” I did not remember that I had asked God to confirm His word to me when I was reading Galatians, I just knew how bad my leg was hurting. I got up on one leg and finished. I can not tell anyone how hard that really was.

When I got home, my wife saw me limping and asked me what had happened. As I was telling her, I started to show her where the ball had hit me and the voice of God spoke again. He said; “Do not look at it, do not touch it, I am going to heal you.” I looked at my wife and asked her if she had heard the voice I had just heard. She said no! I told her what He had said to me, and she said; “Well, if that is what God said, we need to listen.”

I went to the shower and limped at everything I did that night. I did not look at my leg and I washed around it but not the sore spot it’s self. I went to bed thinking that when I woke up the next morning, it would be healed. I was so wrong.

As I woke up the next morning expecting to be healed, my leg hurt worse. It was throbbing, and I knew there was no way I could work with it hurting so bad. My wife and I have this agreement that if we do not go to work, then we must go to the doctor. As we were talking about this, God spoke to me again. He said; “Get up and go to work, I am going to heal you.” I looked at my wife and asked if she had heard the voice this time, she just smiled and said no. I told her what I had heard, and I got dressed for work. I usually pray every morning, but I did not that morning, I just got ready and left.

My job that day was a thee story condo complex with no elevator. I would have to climb every stair that day. I finally prayed that morning in front of this building. I just said to God; “I know I heard your voice, but I can not do my job unless you heal me!” Just then, He spoke to me again and said; “Get out and go to work, I am going to heal you.” I got my things together and I started limping towards that building. All of a sudden, my leg just stopped hurting, I mean, instantly. It was as if the injury had never happened at all. I finished the day with out pain. When I got home, I was not limping at all.

As my wife and I were talking about all that had happened, God spoke again. He said; “Now you can look at it and touch it!” I just raised my pant leg up and there was no evidence what so ever that I had even been hit. There was no bruise, no stitch marks, nothing. I am convinced that God can do anything, we just do not understand how amazing He really is.

Soon after that afternoon, I called and withdrew from Bible Collage. God seems to be able to confirm His ideas and His plans without any help at all. My life continues to amaze me, but I know that God has a plan and I am just living in that plan. I suggest that each one of you start praying and ask God what is your purpose, you may be shocked to find out.

Thank you Debi, I do understand not many people have this kind of experience. I promise you this really happened to me. I still do not fully unerstand it all nearly 10 years later. Maybe it was just to tell the story.
