Finding Your Purpose: Part 4

  • Finding Your Purpose: Part 4 from Jim Jarrell on Vimeo.

Hello everyone, my name is Jim Jarrell and this is Finding Your Purpose.

In my last few videos, I have quoted Luke 8:38-39 which said: “But the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him that he might accompany Him; but He sent him away, saying, return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you. So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.” I am going to use this scripture many times as I find it so important to what I am doing.

In my last video, I told everyone how God called me out to this church and confirmed His calling with healing my body. We started attending this church almost every time the doors were open. I saw things happen there that puzzled me, because of how I had been taught before. I knew from the Angel coming to me that God was real, but now I was learning so much about what He was willing to do in this day. Matthew 19:26 says: “And looking at them Jesus said to them, with people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I was learning first hand this scripture was true.

The pastor started telling me how I would begin to hear the voice of God. I must say here that seemed impossible, but I was learning that nothing was impossible. One Sunday morning we had a traveling speaker at the church. His message that morning was what the body of Christ needed. As he spoke every time he would say what the body of Christ needed, I would hear a male voice say: "enthusiasm". The first time I heard the voice, I looked around to see were it came from. I seemed to be the only male in that area, but I heard it with my own ears. That traveling speaker must have said what the body of Christ needed eight or ten times, and every time he did, I heard the voice. It scared me so much that I went to the pastor's office before we went home.

In his office, I began telling the pastor what had happened. Instead of joining me in my fear, he started laughing at me. He said I told you that you would begin to hear the voice of God. He said go home and look in your Bible at the word enthusiasm and come back next week prepared to speak about it for ten minutes or so. He was so confident in what he was saying, that I lost my fear and went home. I was using a NIV translation at the time and I found enthusiasm used twice on the same page used only in the NIV Bible:

2nd Corinthians 8:17 says: “For Titus not only welcomed our appeal, but he is coming to you with much enthusiasm and on his own initiative.”

2nd Corinthians 9:2 says: “For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action.”

Only God could use a word found twice on the same page in the Bible I just happened to be carrying. The following Sunday after worship, the pastor told everyone what had happened and called me to speak.

To my surprise, I found it very easy to speak there. I told them exactly what had happened and explained that I believed God wanted us to show enthusiasm in everything we do. As I finished speaking, out of nowhere I said someone is supposed to baptize me in the Holy Spirit. I am very aware that is Jesus’ job, but a little lady sitting in the front said: "it is me". I am truly not sure how this works, but I can tell everyone when Brenda White laid her hands on me, my whole world changed. I am not one for courtesy charismatic falls, but I seemed to go into another world for the next 45 minutes. I had heard of being slain in the spirit, but I had never experienced it until that day.

When I say things changed that day, I am speaking from my heart. I seemed to understand the Bible so clearly now. I had heard a lady say that she always questioned her salvation until she experienced the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. I now understand what she was saying. The most important part was this was all God’s idea. Thank you for your time! I will see you again!

Thanks Debi, I have been waiting to do this for a long time now. I really did not know how many times God had stepped into my life. Telling what God has done has at least been interesting. I hope that people will come to know God is very much alive by my doing this.

Thank Dion, there is so much more to tell. God is so real, I have a hard time understanding why so many do not think so. I did have to pinch myself a few times, but I just let God be in charge.
