Half Starved Lions

Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. Daniel 6:23 ESV

They took Daniel to the edge of the lions' den and let him see all of the half-starved lions prowling below them. The stench drifting upwards was horrible. I am sure the soldiers stood back a little ways as they pushed him to the edge of the pit. Then with a shove Daniel was falling through the air, right into the hungry mouths below.

On the way down he could hardly believe that after serving God and the kings uncompromisingly for over eighty years, that he was now being fed to the lions. What a retirement plan this was'they sealed the pit with a stone and it became dark with the sound of panting hungry lions pacing the floor. After a long dark stress-filled night, the dawn finally came and Daniel was unharmed. He was taken out of the pit, and his enemies were thrown in and devoured.

Tomorrow will be a better day. The dawn will come and no matter how bad it looks at night you will come through it unscathed. God will deliver you from the half-starved lions. As Daniel did in his darkest hour, just continue to trust in God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I ask that You deliver me from the enemy. Protect me and my family Lord. Right the wrongs in my life and give me a fresh vision for the future, in the name of Jesus I pray.

Note: Good morning! The highlighted group of the week is "Real Support for Military Families": this group is a place to receive and offer encouragement and prayer for members of the military and their families. We recognize that the families of those who serve in particular have daily burdens that often go unnoticed. If you would like to be part of this community, either as part of a military family, or just someone who would like to pray for them, please do join them! ALSO, the Creation Photographers theme of the week is "a gift God gave you" or "a sacred space", based on John 11:25-26. As always, you are free to post anything else that inspires you, too!
