Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness Luke 4:1 WEB
In music, one of the most beautiful sounds is harmony. There is nothing like it when a band has worked hard on perfecting the backing vocals and maybe even a few instruments, all blending together into one great and full voice. Working together, all the background parts make the one up front really shine. The typical person listening would think that the one singing in the front sounds amazing, and fail to notice the supporting singers behind them.
David was led by the Holy Spirit (Psalms 51:11). Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:1). The apostles were led by the Spirit (Acts 10:19). The children of God are led by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14). Today Jesus is in heaven, and it is the Holy Spirit that is here with us on the earth (John 14:16).
The Holy Spirit works with us and through us today, and when we are willing to be led by Him, He makes us sound great. People think that we are so smart and really shine when He is the invisible force behind us, the supporting singer in the background.
Even though He is with us, we have to work with Him. We are His hands and feet on the earth. When He opens a door, we have to step through it. When He prompts us to give something to someone, we actually have to give it and not just want to. It is not the thought that counts, but obedience. Meaning to do something for years, just means that you have not done it yet. When we feel that we should encourage someone, we do so.
'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God' (Matthew 4:4). That 'word' is the Greek word 'Rhema' meaning 'an utterance', the spoken word of God. A good example of a Rhema word is in Acts 10:19: 'While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, 'Behold, three men seek you.' That is what we listen for, and live by.
It requires working together, day after day, hand in hand, one situation after another. We work with the Holy Spirit to accomplish God's plans and purpose on the earth. Who will tell Bob about Jesus? It may be you. Be sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and work in harmony with Him. There is no greater calling, and in the process He will make you shine and cause you to reach your fullest potential on this earth.
Prayer: Lord Jesus please fill me with the Holy Spirit afresh and teach me to be sensitive to Your presence. Guide me today and use me. Reveal the gifts that you have placed in my life and train me to use them to their fullest potential, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
