Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38 ESV
The visiting speaker who had ridden in on a bus was in need of money and had delivered a great message. He was humble and I felt like his heart was in the right place. I had already paid my tithes for the week but I looked in my wallet and I had forty dollars, so I placed it in his offering basket. He prayed that the Lord would return everything given, one-hundred fold.
Within a few weeks, someone came up to me and gave me four thousand dollars. It was just someone that I had met by working on their house and they said, 'I feel like we should help you.' That was exactly a one-hundred fold return on my giving, from forty to four-thousand.
Today there has been so much excess and greed in the church that to mention giving is almost taboo. A lot of the ground is contaminated. I had given to many speakers before, but this one was good ground. Jesus said 'Give and it will be given to you'. The measure that you give determines what comes back to you. Even though you may have little to nothing, God can show you who to give to. Remember the widow that only had two mites, yet had given more than everyone else (Mark 12:42).
God's love is unconditional, but His blessings are not. When reading through the Bible you will find many statements like 'If you will do this then it will go well with you'. You don't have to give us money or go to church, just follow the Lord's guidance and give as He tells you. One thing about math is that a one-hundred fold return on zero, is zero.
Prayer: Father, I know that your word tells me to give. I pray that you will show me who you want me to be a blessing to, and that you will guide my giving from this day on, in the name of Jesus.
