The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!' John 1:29 WEB
Do you ever feel guilt or shame over something in your past? Is there something haunting you and saying: 'God is mad at you because'' or 'You are not worthy to do this?' That is the enemy trying to immobilize you and to keep you from doing God's will. That is what he does, he accuses us day and night and reminds us of our past (Revelation 12:10).
The enemy cannot stop God from fulfilling His plans for you, but through fear and shame, he can certainly stop you from stepping out in faith to begin with. If you never begin the journey, how can you arrive at the destination? It is a simple but very effective plan, and it kept eleven of Jesus' disciples in the boat, while Peter walked on the water (Matthew 14:29).
Your past is behind you and you cannot change it, so focus on moving forward. When you fall, get back up as quickly as you can and try again. When a past mistake comes to mind, ask God for forgiveness and put it behind you. When someone that has hurt you comes to mind, forgive them once again. This will take away the enemies ammunition, and it will be one more thing that he can no longer use against you.
Jesus dealt with the sin problem once and for all, and no sacrifice that you make will improve on what He has already done for you. He took away the sin of the world. Today we only have to ask for God to forgive us, and He will. Today is the day of salvation, so do not waste another second of your life. Your sin was already paid for, along with everyone else's! We try to live right because He loves us, not to make Him love us. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I look to You today for help, for provision, for protection. All that I have came from You, even the air that I breathe. Forgive me of my sins and help me to walk steadfast. Let me carry Your presence with me today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
