The Lord Listens

Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 'How long shall I bear with this evil congregation that complain against me? I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel, which they complain against me. Tell them, 'As I live, says Yahweh, surely as you have spoken in my ears, so I will do to you. Num. 14:26 WEB

Several times in my walk with the Lord, I have seen the idle things that I have spoken come to pass in my life. Sometimes very quickly, with either good or bad consequences, depending on the words that I spoke. This is an Old Testament scripture, but I can assure you that it is still valid today. The Lord, and others, listen to our conversation. Be careful of the words that you say, because someone may be listening.

Once the church that we attended preached on giving so much that I began to feel nauseous. We tithed on all the money that came into our house and gave above that, but one morning they took five separate offerings. We decided after that time that when an offering was taken, we would decide an amount to give immediately, and the longer they talked about it, the less that amount would be. At the ten minute mark, our gift would reach zero.

About that time we sold a piece of property and had a large tithe from the sale of it. We were praying about where to give it. Finally we decided to just give it to our church, but I told Sylvia that morning: 'If they preach on giving again this week, we will give it somewhere else.'

We went to church that Sunday and the sermon was on healing, so I began to write out a tithe check for the property. Halfway through his sermon on healing, the speaker suddenly paused, turned around, looked right at us, pulled out his wallet and said: 'Sometimes you have to give it all.' Then he went into a heated twenty minute sermon on giving. I almost fell out of my chair laughing while tearing up their check.

God listens to our conversation and He rescued us from a mistake. That day He had someone else in mind for our gift, and it soon became apparent to us. We blessed some other ministries and people instead.

Let the words that you speak today be positive, encouraging, uplifting and not doom and gloom. Involve the Lord in your decisions, especially financial ones. Like a small rudder steers a ship, your tongue guides your life (James 3:4). Prophesy your bright future so that it will come to pass and do not speak curses over yourself and your family. He listens to the words you speak.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the wonderful life that you have given me. I know that the plans that you have for me are good! With your help, today is going to be fun, simple, and easy. I am the one that You chose for this and with Your help I am going to be the best yet! In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: For those following our Creation Photographers group, here is the theme of the week: 1 Corinthians 1:27 "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." 'April Fools' will be our next fun theme and is wide open for some creative interpretation! Let's get fun and silly with this one, and don't forget to post anything else inspiring as well! My photos (in the group) this week reflect some silly fun while birding. Have a fantastic week and be the fool for Christ so that, in our weakness, we can shine bright in God's strength! Update .536: I added a new theme customization button to the top bar that allows you to tweak the colors and layout of the site! I also created some basic color choices with: Light, Dark, The Blues, Rose, Emerald, and Deep Purple. You can also change the look of the side bar or make it disappear altogether. 😱 There is a "Reset" button at the bottom to switch back to the default, so you cannot mess it up!

It's not that I am really smart. The Lord just makes it look that way. He always has, except when I begin to think it's me, and He makes me look really dumb as a reminder. However, I am called to do this, and the Lord equips those He calls to do whatever is needed. 😀
