Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9'11 WEB.
"Pray for me, preacher! I'm going to commit some adultery tonight, Lord willing," the man shouted at me as he left work that evening. I answered him back, "I will!" The construction workers on this job site had taunted me with the details of their nighttime events ever since they saw me say a blessing over my lunch one day. It became a daily thing, but I stood my ground and quoted scriptures back to them like, "Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord."
The man shouting at me that day was a big fellow who had been through the Vietnam war. He was hot-tempered and bitter. He had once knocked a preacher through the screen door when he came to invite him to church. He would go out of his way to find me on the job site just to tell me: "I don't believe in God!" I would answer him, "You are going to, for every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord."
His words were just hot air, but my words cut him to the heart. You could see the expression on his face change when I spoke. He started out loud and belligerent but slowly grew more brooding and quiet. Soon he began telling others to shut up when they picked on me. I don't know what happened to that man, but the Lord tells us in Isaiah 55:11 that His word will not return void but will accomplish its task. Soon enough, another job site came with another crew of mockers to contend with.
Never be ashamed of the Lord Jesus Christ in the workplace. The name of Jesus is above all names. It's above all sin, addictions, disease, bondage, bills, unemployment, bankruptcy, divorce, loneliness, and every knee will bow at the name of Jesus in the coming days. He can melt the hardest of hearts, break any addiction, heal any disease, raise the dead, and cleanse you from any sin. Even if you have hated Him in the past, Jesus is merciful, understanding, and He can set you free today with a simple prayer. Jesus is the name above all names!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please set me free from the things holding me back. Give me the grace and boldness to stand in the face of adversity. Fill me with Your words and Your fire. Let me carry Your very presence wherever I go. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
