Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him all the more. He said to them, "Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: for, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves came around, and bowed down to my sheaf." His brothers said to him, "Will you indeed reign over us? Or will you indeed have dominion over us?" They hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words. Genesis 37:5'8 WEB.
God spoke to Joseph in a dream and showed him his destiny. He was chosen for something special, but his brothers became jealous and angry when Joseph told them about it. Later, when they were together in an isolated place without their dad, the brothers discussed killing Joseph, but they couldn't agree on the details. So they compromised and sold Joseph into slavery to some traveling merchants. This only pushed him closer to his destiny, and in due time, Joseph's dream became a reality.
If God has given you a dream, believe in it. It will come to pass at the proper time, but be careful who you share your dream with. Don't throw your pearls before swine (Matthew 7:6). Work towards your goal and do your part, but be wary of the dream killers, for they don't see the potential inside of you that God does. When God opens the door, step through it and be content until He opens the next one. As long you are submitted to Him, He will bring it to pass.
Most of the time, the people you grew up with will never see you as anything different, for they won't look any deeper than the surface. God looks on the heart, and He often chooses the small and weak to do the big and powerful. David was the smallest, youngest son in Jesse's house when the Lord said, "This is the one. Anoint him." Even Jesus was considered to be just another carpenter in His hometown. His dreams were not their dreams for Him.
"Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" They were offended at him (Mark 6:3).
So hang onto God today and believe that He has a plan for You like He promised. Involve Him in your life and your decision-making. Don't be disappointed when others don't see God's plan for your life. He is the One who will bring your dream to pass, not them.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for your plans for me. I choose to believe in You today willingly. Please fulfill Your will in my life and guide me into all You have for me. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
