Moses said to Yahweh, "O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue." Yahweh said to him, "Who made man's mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn't it I, Yahweh? Therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak." Moses said, "Oh, Lord, please send someone else." Exodus 4:10-13 WEB.

Moses was now eighty years old and living a quiet life near Mount Horeb. He had settled down with a wife, children, and a dull but steady job as a shepherd. His life was not what he had thought it would be while growing up in Egyptian royalty, but it wasn't bad. During this time, Moses became great at herding sheep and protecting them.

Then the day came when Moses' training was complete. The Lord appeared to him in a burning bush, and his destiny began. By then, Moses didn't want to go. If he had gotten his way, he would have probably died a simple shepherd at Mount Horeb. But God had other plans for him, and Moses soon became the most powerful person living on Earth. Moses thought the dream of delivering his people from the Egyptians was long dead, but it hadn't even started. He told the Lord to send someone else, but He wouldn't take no for an answer.

If the Lord had answered my prayers concerning my life, I wouldn't be here writing this today. Over twenty-five years ago, the Lord told me that I would be in ministry in His "appointed" time and to prepare myself for it. So I went through bible college, earned a degree, and got ordained. However, after graduating, every single door in ministry seemed sealed off.

I worked various jobs to get by and worked with computers for the next twenty years. The Lord eventually put me in my own computer business, and I learned to build websites, servers, and firewalls. I forgot about those dreams of ministry from long ago. I figured I had missed Him somehow or maybe let Him down one too many times.

Then one day, our computer business dried up. No amount of praying, giving, fasting, or begging seemed to make a difference. All doors closed, and I couldn't find a job anywhere. The week finally came when we were packing to move out of our home, for we could no longer pay the bills. On a Tuesday morning, I had an open vision, and by Friday, I was working as a pastor in full-time ministry.

Now I use those computer skills that I learned along the way for the Lord in ministry. We operate an online church and reach people worldwide, bringing live interactive church services to the disabled and those without a church. I share the testimonies that I lived while walking with God in the workplace. It was what God had prepared me for all along. Yet, by the time it came about, I just wanted Him to send someone else. I had long given up on that dream.

God often has better plans for us than we do for ourselves. Our view is too narrow and too short to see the whole picture. When things are not going how you want them to, know that God is working out something so much better than you had in mind. Keep the faith. Trust God. Keep putting one foot in front of the other one. When you stumble, get back up. It is not over, for when one door closes, another opens. Also, don't give up on the dream before it begins.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that You have a plan for me. Please help me find the place where I belong. Guide me into all that You have for me and help me make the right choices along the way. Give me a clear vision for my life and help me to focus on the right things. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:12-13 ~ If you have a prayer need, we are here for you!
