1 Corinthians 15:42-44: So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
Matthew 28:10: Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Take heart brothers and sisters, the ressurection is coming for all of us who reside in the hands of Jesus. We who believe in Jesus will go from weakness to strength. We must get ourselves focused on one thing and one thing only, and that is Jesus Christ and Him risen from death.
There are so many tricks the enemy tries to throw our way. We are bombarded with lies of pain, sickness, disruptions, and even death. The toughest part is to see someone we love suffering or maybe even worse, dying. We can often question our own mortality and we can become fearful of what disease can do. Fear has no place in the life of a Christian. We must never cave to the lie of the enemy.
We see from this scripture that while our bodies are perishable, we are raised imperishable. We who may go to the grave in weakness will be raised in power! So what do we ever have to fear? When a seed is placed in the ground it is not dead, but it is transformed into something much greater in size and value. The same with those of us who are in Jesus Christ. When we go to the grave, we are not dead, but being made into something much greater, something in glory and power, something that will not pass away.
So what fear do we have in this life, that we will become more powerful, or glorious? Do not fear that which can only spit lies about who we are and what will happen to our bodies. We know that we will only be stronger and more glorious. We are loved and made new in that transformation from death to life. When we see brothers and sisters go to the grave, let us rejoice instead of mourn, because we have the assurance that they who know Jesus are going on to live in the glory of the risen Christ.
Lay down fear and take up strength, boldness, and all that is true. Be who God created you to be without concern for what is to come. We must take the effort we used to give to fear and instead give praise and thanksgiving to Jesus who leads us in life and life eternal. Praise Jesus.
