I have a Dilbert cartoon about computer tech support taped to our internet router. It reminds me of our service provider. Whenever we have an internet problem and call them, they immediately say something must be wrong with our equipment. They shift the blame to us, but then they silently fix it in the background. That said, they are great for a small-town ISP.

In the cartoon, Dilbert, the technician, picks up the support telephone and says: "Your problem is with another company's products or services." Without even hearing, knowing, or caring what the problem was. The customer said: "But you haven't heard about the problem yet." Dilbert replied: "Let's pretend that will make a difference."

As Christians, we often try to pass the buck onto the evil world or other groups while we are the only ones with the key. We like to believe we are in this situation because of someone else. When we are trapped in a pit that we dug ourselves. We are often merely reaping what we have sown in the past (Galatians 6:7).

There is only one way out of the pit: That we turn to God and away from our wicked ways. We humble ourselves and pray. Then He promises that He will hear from heaven, turn, and heal our land. Whether we cause it or not, we have the answer to bring change.

The answer lies not in politics or war but in seeking God. All through the Bible, God moved when His people began to seek Him with all their hearts. When they became lukewarm and backslidden, their nation fell apart.

Can Christians prosper in a fallen world? Absolutely! If we all were to humble ourselves (fasting), repent (turn from our wicked ways), and pray, God would turn and heal our nation. May God give us the wisdom and grace to do so before it is too late.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that You bring peace to our nation. Forgive us. Please guide our leaders and remove evil influences from our government. Fill our country with Your presence, and convict people of sin once again. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
