By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went. By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. Hebrews 11:8-9 WEB.
In Genesis 12:1, the Lord told Abram to leave his father's house, relatives, and country and travel to a strange land that He would show him. Then it simply reads, "So Abram went as the Lord had told him." Take a moment and think about that. What an incredible leap of faith it was for Abram to leave his country and his family without first even knowing where he was going.
At this point, God hadn't done anything for Abram except to tell him to leave his home. Yet, he stayed positive, wholly convinced that God was able to do what He had told him. Abram believed the Lord. He didn't have to leave his country at all if he had chosen not to. He made a deliberate choice to do what God told him, and now we read about Abraham, the father of nations. If Abram had chosen not to go, then God would have used someone else. We might be reading about someone named Mathias, the father of nations, instead.
Only the first step of God's plan was revealed to Abram: "leave this place." Then after Abram obeyed the first step, God gave him the next one. Abram walked with God one step at a time, often not understanding why or where. When God tested Abram by asking him to sacrifice his son Issac, don't you think he wondered why? I would have. Abram overcame because He trusted God. That is the very essence of faith. You take the first step He shows you, then you trust Him to take care of the rest.
Many times in my life, I didn't understand what the Lord was doing or why for He doesn't show us the end from the beginning. It comes one step at a time, so don't try to look too many moves ahead. Instead, focus on the next one. Often, I just had to take that next step and trust that the problem would work itself out, and it did, time after time.
If you hold onto the things God has told you and merely walk through the doors that He opens, things are going to work out. Though it seems to be a narrow path lined with thorns, He has cleared the way in front of you. So stop looking to the left or the right, and focus on knowing Jesus. Trust Him, and don't let fear and unbelief hold you back. You don't have to understand where this is going or why, for He does.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for taking care of me. I know that You can see the big picture while I am limited to just today. Please draw my heart to You, and let me come to know You more deeply. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
Note: For those interested, our Wednesday morning prayer service starts at 10:30am EST! This is a short service, about 15-20 minutes, where we pray together for any needs you bring forth. Dear Heavenly Father, please heal my Momma... I know that things happen in your time... I'm just asking to have her a little while longer. I will honor and except your plan for her life here on this Earth or up in Heaven with you. After all, this is just our temporary home. All Mercy and Honor are your's Lord Jesus. In Jesus Name I pray... Amen! ππΌππΌππΌ

During my 5+ years of being here, I can say, once in therapy classes, I was told to take baby steps, one step at a time.
Being in this huge facility and being away from my family and my home state, I have learned to slow down, accept things as they are, not as they were in the past. I like to keep things simple. and I like to be sure of myself. I have become more grateful also!

Wishing everyone a very blessed and peaceful βΊοΈ Thanksgiving! Blessings to ALL!!
AMEN, Pastor, this I pray!!! I really like the theme of today's message "One Step at a Time"! Didn't picture my so called golden years to be like it is right now, my husband's health issues increasing, our one and only daughter's major health problems, our one and only grandson's debilitating condition growing weaker and weaker, but I've learned to wait on my Lord daily, live each day with "One Day at a time with my Lord", and now on this Thanksgiving eve I'm filled with Thanksgiving: God kept us alive for such a time like this, to see and enjoy our beautiful precious great grandchildren, who love us and are always so happy to be with us!! HE changed and softened the heart of my husband who now believes in the Lord, and there is so much more in addition to being part of the RHM family, Pastor Dion and Sylvia!!! Thank you Lord for being with us every step of the way!!! πβ€οΈ

Amen, Liesel, we all need to keep an Attitude of Gratitude π!
Right now I am letting a huge thing go and walking through a door into the unknown ... Sometimes letting go is so very hard and scary ...but it's the faith that has been built over time where God has taken care of me that helps me to move forward through the difficult and painful things... to help push the fear down and follow His lead one step at a time trusting He has a better and greater plan for my life ...
