Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith? Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' Matthew 6:28-31 WEB.
I grew up in the country, rambling through the woods and looking for adventure. There was an old oak tree that covered a small stream near our house. It was hidden deep in the woods and had dense shade and running water, so it became my summer camp one year.
The tree had the names of people I knew carved in it and some from past generations who had made it a camp before me. When I was small, it was already a giant tree, and it's probably over two hundred years old now. Over the years, it has continued to grow, and it is majestic. I loved that tree and the cool shade it provided.
Trees like that are amazing. Their roots grow down into the soil and draw up water and minerals that are unseen to us. Their sustenance is invisible to us and provided so naturally we don't even notice. In fact, it's a "super-natural" provision. It happens naturally and gradually as they need it.
God provides everything they need to grow. Before we were born, the trees were already there and doing well. They live their whole life unable to walk or to provide anything for themselves. They couldn't move a single step if their life depended on it. Yet, God provides their every need right where they are, for He puts what they need within their reach.
God will provide for you the same way. No one can cut you off because they can't control where your supply is coming from. The check you receive is not your only means of survival. God provides for all of creation, and He will provide for you when you put your trust in Him.
Don't look to the signer of a paycheck as your savior. When it fails, God can raise up another source to provide for your needs. Relax, He takes care of the mighty forests as well as the little sparrows, and He is certainly able to provide for you. Pray, make your needs known, and then trust God for provision (Philippians 4:6). Don't be so anxious about what may come tomorrow, for that oak tree is doing well.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for taking care of me. It has been quite a journey, but I am still here. Today I put my trust in You. I choose You as my provider. Philippians 4:6 tells us to make our requests known to You, though You know them already. So here are my needs. (List your needs). Thank You so much. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
Note: Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.β (Jeremiah 29:12-13) ~ If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! Heavenly Father, thank you for all that you provide. My only need is more of You. The sun is shinning and there is a gentle breeze. I can see and feel Your presence everywhere. Even though our world is broken, it still shows Your beauty. Thank you for loving me so much with sharing all that You do. Amen and Amen!ποΈ
