I have said these things to you, while still living with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. John 14:24–26 WEB.
As I look at my piano, twelve keys are repeated across the keyboard's length. There are only seven ivory keys and five ebonies, yet a talented pianist can make unlimited music with these twelve keys. They can play love songs, sad songs, happy songs, classical, and so much more. Every day they may compose something fresh using the same twelve keys.
Similarly, the Bible has a fixed amount of words, but the Holy Spirit can bring something fresh out of it daily. Each time that you read it, you may learn something new. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals this.
The Apostles, Peter and John, were uneducated fishermen, yet the teachers of the day were astonished at them (Acts 4:13). It was because the Holy Spirit taught them. When Peter preached his first sermon under the power of the Spirit, about three thousand people were saved (Acts 2:41).
When you read your Bible, pray first and ask God to help you understand His word. The Lord Jesus said that the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send, will teach you all things. Just as a pianist can compose a new song using the same twelve keys, the Holy Spirit can bring new light to an old scripture. With His help, the Bible is an endless volume of relevant knowledge, a living Book that is always fresh, amazing, and beautiful.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please teach me Your word. Please help me understand and remember it. Clear the bad things from my mind and bring Your scriptures to remembrance when I need them. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
