Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38 WEB.
A very anointed preacher from out of state once spoke at our church. It was a divine appointment. Another church had scheduled him to speak but canceled at the last minute. Now he was stranded in South Carolina and needed somewhere to stay and a bus ticket home. He called our church, and our Pastor let him speak, then we took up an offering for him. I looked in my wallet that morning, and I had $40, so I went up front and put it in the offering basket he was holding.
A few weeks later, someone who was just an acquaintance gave me $4,000. It was precisely a one-hundred-fold return of what I had given in that offering. I was working on their house when they came up and said, "I feel like I should help you buy another car." In all honesty, it looked like I needed one. The car I was driving had been pieced together with parts from about ten other cars. I was lucky to get to work at all. Yet, when I gave, God changed my circumstances.
One Christmas, we built three computers from spare parts we had lying around and gave them to three widows who didn't have one. It wasn't much, but it was the best we could do at the time because we had a lot of leftover computer parts from our business but little money. A few months later, a business owner I knew closed his business and gave us over $10,000 worth of new computers, servers, and network equipment. It included things that I could only dream of buying. We used some of it to start Refreshing Hope Ministries and still use some of that equipment today.
I gave money and received it back multiplied by 100. I gave computers and received more of them, newer, bigger and better. Of course, God can bless You in any way He chooses, but in my case, He gave me back exactly what I had given away but multiplied.
The kingdom of God operates on the principle of "Sowing and Reaping." I grew up on a farm in the country. Any farmer can tell you there is no harvest unless you first plant the seed. There is a planting season, then later comes a harvest. If you don't plant seeds, the only thing growing is weeds.
Never underestimate the power of giving. Jesus said, "Give, and it will be given to you." First, you give with a cheerful attitude. Then He multiplies it and gives it back to you. Give a gift you would like to receive yourself. In time, a better one will find its way to you. I received back what I gave away, but better and multiplied. "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4).
