In the first chapter of the Bible, we see God, our loving Awesome Creator, bringing the universe into existence with His words. Every part of His creation is not just good but perfect—full of purpose, harmony, and life. From the stars in the sky to the ground beneath our feet, every living thing was crafted with intention. And when He created us, humanity, He declared that it was very good.
(Genesis 1:1 NKJV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
(Genesis 1:31 NKJV) Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
God created Adam and Eve, and they lived a wonderful life in Eden, with its crystal waters and green forests. It was a paradise. They were naked and not ashamed. Then, one day, when Eve was alone, an interesting character began speaking to her.
(Genesis 3:1 NKJV) Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"
It was called a serpent, but it is not the snake we know today. It was probably something very beautiful at the time, but it became the slithering snake we know because of God's judgment.
(Genesis 3:14 NKJV) So the LORD God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.
A physical body is a house for spirits. Inside our body, our spirit lives, which is eternal and will always exist somewhere. Some day, our physical body will return to dust, but our spirit came from God and will live forever; it's only a question of where. We can also have the Holy Spirit living inside of us or a legion of demons.
(Matthew 12:43–45 NKJV) "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first..."
The evil spirit called that man his "house." Animals can also be houses, and spirits can enter them. This is why, in many places, the Lord had them wipe out all the livestock when they conquered the promised land. When the people died, the evil spirits went into the animals until they could find another person to enter. We can see this demonstrated in Matthew.
(Matthew 8:31–32 NASB) The demons began to entreat Him, saying, "If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine." And He said to them, "Go!" And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters.
Animals are not their preferred house because demons like to do naughty things and need a human body to enjoy their evil desires properly. So, in the garden, satan entered the serpent to speak to Eve just as later he entered Judas, an Apostle of Jesus Christ. Can an Apostle of Christ have a demon inside them? Yep...
(Luke 22:3 NKJV) Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.
At least once, satan spoke through the Apostle Peter, and Jesus rebuked him:
(Matthew 16:22–23 NKJV) Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."
During the conversation in the Garden of Eden, satan lied to Eve and convinced her to try a bit of the fruit that God said would kill them. She chose to listen to the serpent's advice instead of God. Eve listened to satan. Adam listened to Eve. No one listened to God. That is how sin/disobedience began, and it continues today.
Unlike God, satan cannot create anything. His power lies only in his ability to corrupt what is already made. Through lies, deception, and temptation, satan twists God's good creation into something perverted, bringing death, disorder, and destruction. (John 8:44) (John 10:10). The serpent was cursed because of the corrupter.
About 1,656 years after God made Adam, the entire Earth was corrupted. So God decided to wipe it out and start over with a clean slate.
(Genesis 6:11–13 NKJV) The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
That was a failed harvest. Win some. Lose some. Solomon wrote that everything under the sun has already been here: cars, planes, computers:
(Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 NKJV) ... there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, "See, this is new"? It has already been in ancient times before us.
The evil master plan of satan is to entirely corrupt the Earth once again so that God's judgment will fall on it. God is the Awesome Creator, and satan is the awful corrupter.
You can pray this with me if you like:
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You so much for another day! Please speak to me clearly and lead me into all that You have for me. Help me see the world through Your eyes. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
Amen! This validated what my thoughts had been about Otis, Basset Hound. I adopted him at 4.5 months old. I was his third owner. In the year I had him, he bit me at least 8 times, the last time I had to have 15 sutures to put my arm back together. Most of the time he was sweet, but he would get angry if he did not get his way. I took him for training. I even left him at the trainers for 2 weeks! He as perfectly behaved there. When I brought him home, he immediately attacked Rusty, my goldendoodle. He then charged at me during feeding time, causing me to spill food all over the place. He had never done that before! When he would bite, he would maul me, biting me in several places, arms, legs, belly, anyplace he could reach! I would have to hide in a room to escape. He would calm down later. I called a behaviorist who told me that he was wired wrong, and the next bite may be an artery or my face, and I need to put him down. I also called a Basset Hound rescue, and was told the same. He could never be rehomed. I ended up having him euthanized after my 15 sutures. Rusty also had sutures because he bit him too! Otis was only a year old. Whether he was wired wrong, or had an evil spirit, I do not know. I just wonder, if it was an evil spirit, will that spirit enter into another?
Our God is an awesome God!!! yes, get behind me Satan. If God is for us, then who be against it. My first prayer is "I rebuke Satan away from my family and friends in Jesus' name, Amen"
I will share the pastor's prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You so much for another day! Please speak to me clearly and lead me into all that You have for me. Help me see the world through Your eyes. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
