However you are just in all that is come on us; for you have dealt truly, but we have done wickedly; neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept your law, nor listened to your commandments and your testimonies with which you did testify against them. For they have not served you in their kingdom, and in your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and fat land which you gave before them, neither turned they from their wicked works." Nehemiah 9:33–35 WEB.
It was a very dark time for Israel. The capital city of Jerusalem had been sacked and burned, and the inhabitants were carried away to foreign countries. Nehemiah was now cupbearer to the king of Persia. Yet, what difference could one man make when such a powerful nation had destroyed his country and carried them off to be servants?
Esther was put in a position of influence for "such a time as this" (Esther 4:14). Nehemiah was also placed near the king and brought him wine. Nehemiah was deeply moved for Jerusalem, and he begged God to give him favor with the king.
He prayed: "Lord, I beg you, let now your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who delight to fear your name; and please prosper your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man." (Nehemiah 1:11).
Nehemiah's prayer was answered. The king took notice, and he told Nehemiah to return and rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. He even provided the materials for it.
The Lord put Nehemiah in the right position and gave him the influence to accomplish the task. Rebuilding Jerusalem was a bad job that no one else wanted. They were under constant threat and ridicule from the surrounding cities. It was so dangerous that one person had to work on the wall while another guarded them with a spear. Yet, in 52 days, the wall around Jerusalem was completed, and everyone knew that God was behind it.
Nehemiah and those with him acknowledged that their fathers had messed up. They had been rebellious and had not followed the Lord but instead chased other gods. That's why their country was overrun, and they were all taken away into exile. This younger generation repented, fasted, and began to seek God earnestly.
Nehemiah prayed and reminded God of His own words to Moses: "Remember, I beg you, the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, If you trespass, I will scatter you abroad among the peoples: but if you return to me, and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts were in the uttermost part of the heavens, yet will I gather them from there, and will bring them to the place that I have chosen, to cause my name to dwell there." (Nehemiah 1:7–9).
Nehemiah and all those with him wrote a covenant and sealed it in Nehemiah 10:1. Then God blessed, restored, and protected them. They completed their work of rebuilding the wall. He lived in a time when his fathers had dropped the ball and destroyed their nation. Yet, he found courage, took a stand, and said: "Not on my watch." They began to reverse the damage done by their fathers. They rebuilt the demolished wall and became the generation that restored Israel.
We are put here for such a time as this, and when we connect with God, we will find our true purpose. So, let us follow the example of Nehemiah and take a stand for God, even when everyone else around us has forsaken Him. Let us be the generation that seeks God like no other, the generation that brings restoration.

my prayer: Yes, I thank You, Lord, for today at 7:39 Central Time Zone. Is this where you placed me? or did my brother place me here without consulting with You?. This could be the only place where I can live. If my brother, my power of attorney, passes away, my sisters would not have the ability to help me. I need to write a note so I can remember to call the 2 homes in La. as they may be possibilities and more reasonably priced than here and have good amenities. So, God, I am asking you to lead me to call those homes and help to make the best decision. I have called you an Awesome God's today! I have prayed for Philip...thanks for answering my prayer because he went to church with me Sunday evening and I was go glad. I see Your Power every day God...Wonder Working Power! You are my leader and my teacher and my helper as I stand for You and Israel. I ask you to protect my 3 daughters. I am getting more and more homesick and missing my children and all of my family members. If I am homesick and sad now and keep on being that way, will I pass away? Take over God because I put this in Your hands, and now help me as I call my brother and let him know I am homesick. That isn't fair. In Jesus' name through the Holy Spirit, Amen
AMEN! Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you today, for where You have placed me, and for all that you have blessed me with! You are an Awesome God, and there is none like You! I get exited at the things that You do. Show Your power in my life! Lead me, teach me, and help me take a stand for YOU! In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen! 🙏 Also, dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for all the lives that You have entrusted to me, my immediate and extended family, and so many others, and so many needs, which has become a heavy burden but also a privilege to pray for!🙏 It is You, dear Lord, who enlarged my territory, as I'm thinking of the prayer of Jabez in 1. Chronicles 4:10! As I'm growing older but also growing closer and closer to You, putting all of my hope and trust in You, I see Your mighty hand directing my path and seeing my purpose in this life that You have given me! Praise Your Holy Name! 🙏
Praise the LORD...He has taught me how to talk to family and friends better than I did in the past. He sounded much better than before. He says he is staying busy. I told him about my missing everybody. He said he would talk to the girls (my 3 sisters!). I told him that I realize gas is very expensive and there are other plans to make before traveling 3 to 4 hours and turn around and go back home. 2 of my sisters have jobs. 1 of my sisters doesn't have a job and that is why I see her more than the other 2. My child, Megan, now 39...she works. She may be saving money to come see me...it has been 7 months since I saw her, but it's all good. When she visits me, we go out to eat but it is free for families to eat here. and sometimes, when Megan comes to see me, the meals may not be that great. I am just so glad to have talked to my brother. I don't usually call him at 8 p.m. like I did, so that may be a better time to call. Okay, I have rambled on after I prayed about my family after sharing the Pastor's Prayer about generations. there are 4 generations living in my family...my 4 other siblings. Gary has 2 children, Myra has 2 children. LIsa has 3 children. Lori has 2 children. I have 3 children. I have 8 grandchildren. Gary has 3, Myra has 3, 2 of whom I haven't met. Lisa has 8. Lori has no grandchildren. There are 38 members listed above. Two of my sisters are married, and my brother is married. I have Philip and Lori has Tony, so that makes 5 today who are in long-lasting relationships. Wow, I didn't realize that as there have been divorces in the past. That is sad to think about too. However, with abuse, that is a good reason to leave and ask for a divorce. I must say good night as it is almost snack time. In Jesus' love, Nell

Nell, I join you in prayer. I'm finding that getting old has challenges - family, homesickness, uncertainty - that I never imagined. I wish you peace.
